Hi... I'm trying to run TIE Fighter Collector's CDROM (the one with TIE.EXE, not TIE95.EXE) on my XP box... 1.4AMD, Geforce3Ti300, 512MB DDR RAM, SoundBlaster Live! Value (but with a 3rd party audio driver... the kX ones). I saw lots of people on this forum try to answer the question, but none of them seems to work for me (or I get a totally different problem...), so I'll give it a go ... again.
TIE is installed in default C: directory, Maximum install
I guess the problem is (as usual), the sound... I've tried a bunch of stuff... first I set it up so it was Custom/Advanced setup... General MIDI for music, auto detect for sound (SB16 I think?). 'Test' for music would crash install.exe, while sound works fine. If i try to play with this setup, the came goes to a blank screen and dies.
So then I try disabling music (none) and running the game; it runs fine, sound, joystick... except, well, music!
Then I let install.exe auto-detect the sound card, and it finds something.. I try running the game again, and bam, i get the same blackscreen again.
Ok... maybe that was only 3 alternatives (all run with VDMSound)... but I'm still running out of ideas.... So, anyone have an idea of waht to do?
Thanks!
