Just a general question to see what peoples think about a socket 7 233mmx vs slot 1 233mhz (with/without/mmx)

I have a socket 7 today ( which is suppose to be main retro gaming pc ) but i also have a slot1 matx board.

There reason for the question is that i have been wondering about creating a "smaller" retro gaming machine but still use old hardware.

Slot1 box would be smallerand more energy efficient*, but speed wise i dont know if it would really be a wow factor but i could be wrong.

And ye, inside counts but so do space 😉

* Maybe not then 😉

It can be much faster.

Energy efficient though? Nah... The MMX 233 has a TDP of 17W, where as the Klamath PII 233 has a TDP of 35W, although they are both pretty low power. Depending on your motherboard, you could always opt for a faster Pentium II (or even III) with power consumption similar to the MMX 233, but far improved performance. Celeron 300A would be nice too 😀.

I would play some dos games and windows games.

Doh i already have a compaq presario 433 which handles dos games, this would be for the dos games that requires faster cpu like duke nukem 3d.
