Hey, recently brought a new copy of theme hospital. On the back of the box it says it works on XP. Yet when i go to install the game an error comes up:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for runnning MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

What does this mean? and how do i solve this problem? 😖

It means that the Windows NTVDM process tried to perform some udpates to the 'DOS' environment (through config.nt & autoexec.nt) but failed to do so. Theme Hospital has worked fine on my system (Win2K Sp4) 😐

Here's the most useful article I've found: http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBM/tip6000/rh6041.htm

You're probably trying to run the DOS executable.
There is also a Windows executable and installer on the Theme Hospital disk.
You'll also want the latest Theme Hospital patch for optimal gameplay experience (it implements difficulty levels and some other stuff that was left out of the original 1.0 release). Get it at Patches Scrolls.

Yes, it’s my fault.
