With regards to Where to find info on flashing bios on a compaq? - I came across it several times and there were no updates, so I decided to try the BIOS update despite the soldered bios chip. I found it here https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=44336. It worked, although I had to force the flashing process with the /py switch.

I looked for possible error messages (so much whined about) at POST screen and there are two of them. 1) It checks the 80-conductor IDE cable and gives the message if the 40-conductor is used, and 2) it recommends to use CAS latency of 2.

So it's nice to have a proper Award BIOS on this mainboard 😀

As for overclocking, USB stops working with FSB 110+, but 120 mHz with onboard cache on is quite stable.
