I am restoring a 286-12 and have everything running great except the hard drive and controller. I have a Seagate ST-251-1 MFM hard drive which seems to be fine (spins up, gurgles a bit and sits waiting) and I have a few controllers.

The first controller is a Western Digital WD1002A-WX which just burps out a 1701 error at post no matter what jumpers I have set.

The second controller is a NCL NDC5525 which has a floppy controller and a MFM controller on the same PCB. This one boots from the floppy drive no problem, but I can't seem to get to its BIOS to setup the MFM hard drive. I've tried DEBUG with the commands G=C800:5, G=C800:6, G=C800:800, G=C800:CCC, but that just hangs the system. If anyone knows the proper debug address for this card please fill me in.

The third controller is a RLL variety and well, I've read if you want to shorten the life of your MFM drive use it on a RLL controller.

So if anyone can give me some info on that NCL card I would greatly appreciate it.
