Hello, I'm new here, so I'm not sure if this has been brought up before.
I'm currently running a Pentuim 4 1.6 GHZ, 256 MB ram, a Nvidia GrForce 2 MX video card and a Sound Blaster 16 PCI sound card. My OS is Windows XP Pro. I'm using VDMSound v2.1.0.
Anyway, I've run into two problems. The first, is that the game (most noticably the sound), lags when there's a lot of movement on the screen. An obvious cause of lag, I know, but annoying nonetheless. If I change Jazz Jackrabbit's sound quality to a lower setting, it runs fine. The thing that bothers me, is that before I had to reformat my hard drive, I had the game running at full speed with the highest sound quality, using an older version of VDMSound. Now, I did a quick search of these forums before I made this post, and it appears that having the joystick enabled causes some slowdown. I didn't use a controller prior to reformatting. If that's the cause of my problem, could someone tell me how to fix it and still have joystick support and the best possible sound quality?
My other problem is the joystick support itself. Wehn playing Jazz Jackrabbit with my Sega Saturn USB pad, the game won't detect if I'm holding up or down on the d-pad. It will detect that it is pressed, but not if it is held. This makes it impossible for me to play the bonus stages using my controller. Left and right on the d-pad work properly, however.
If anyone can help me solve these problems, I'd appreciate it.
Edit: I've just learned that When I hold the A button, (button 0), in a bonus stage, it acts like I'm pressing up on the d-pad.
