I'm trying to use a Mitsumi LU005S by connecting it to a SB16 CT2230. The card has jumpers for the CDROM IRQ, but nothing to set the address or DMA. How do I go about configuring that and the driver in config.sys?

I apologize. I meant CT2230. I fixed the title.
The first step is to confirm that you have the jumpers set correctly for both IRQ and CD-ROM interface selection.

This thread talks about getting that drive working with an SB16.

I have the jumpers set accordingly on the card to work with the drive (Mitsumi, IRQ 11) and I'm trying a fresh install of the SB16 drivers from a different disk set.

I read through that thread, but it doesn't really explain anything. They come to the conclusion the problem was the drive was in fact an IDE drive and that's why it wasn't working.

Has a repository of drivers. Apparently, mitsf116 should work well with your drive.

My father was an owner of a LU005, too. Back in time, he had a dedicated controller card for it.
There used to be two drivers, one with DMA support, another one without (PIO).
The cable was a 40pin ribbon cable, non-twisted (only two connectors on cable),
I attach another driver package (converted from rar to zip).
It contains PLAYCD, as I remember it. Maybe it works.

How does the CT2230 assign the address and DMA to a Mitsumi drive? All I've managed to find searching online is the address is automatically set to whatever the SB16 address is +10. If the SB16 is set to 220, then the drive will be 230. Is this correct? What do I set for DMA, if anything?
The setup program included in the CD-ROM drivers only allows assigning address 300 or higher. Will the drivers function properly if I manually change the address to 230 in config.sys?
The drive is still not being recognized.
Hi and sorry to dig up this old thread.
I have the same problem with my Mitsumi LU005S not working. I have tested with two identical Mitsumi I/O cards and a Soundblaster 16 CT2230. I installed them in this PC: Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread
Tested the 1.66 and 2.30 driver, but each time it didn't respond.
Now user ODwilly said I need a special connection cable Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread . I tested it only with a normal IDE cable. Is that right? What kind of cable is this?

Hi, you can try again with a 40pin cable (right).
80pin cables (left) may not work, not sure.
I know, sounds strange, since 80pin cables are said to include extra ground wires only, but are otherwise the same. Hm.
Edit: Here's another pic. Such a simple cable was used in my father's PC.

Hi again, just read the threads you linked to.
- Hm. I didn't know the cable was a special one. It looked like a 1:1 ribbon cable to me.
Well, maybe not exactly 1:1, if you know what I mean. It looked like a IDE cable, one of those that could also attach to a 40meg IDE drive of the time.
But that was like 25+ years ago. My memories could be failing after such a long time. 😅

I certainly haven't used a special cable to connect my LU005S, it was a 40 pin IDE cable. I've hooked it up to both a Soundblaster and the standalone card. Didn't have any issues.
