Recently I started playing Taito's Super Space Invaders again, but I've faced weird problems upon completing the game. If I choose the normal game and win it, the scoreboard comes up and i should be able to input a 3 char long name. Now, whatever button I press it automatically fills all 3 characters with A's (like AAA) and then program quits and returns to DOS saying: Abnormal program termination.

If I choose the advanced game, upon completing the last level the game simply restarts the PC... Weird, isn't it? 😕

I've found this really interesting, because if my memories serve well I could input my name without any problems back then and there were no pc restarts after an advanced game.

Just to be on the safe side, I tested the game on DosBox and the results were pretty same. Abnormal program terminaton after normal game and also abnormal program termination after advanced game (I guess dosbox can't handle the restart).

My game is copied straight off the original 2x3,5" version of the game. I've also tried downloading different versions from the inet, but the results were always the same...

Have any of you ever played this game or willing to help with testing it? I'd really like to find out what's going on... Maybe the program itself is faulty 😵 and there is nothing wrong on my end.
