I've seen this card on eBay, listed for £500! The ad states that this is a rare card and If you've clicked on the link you probably already know that 😉. But I don't! Why is this card so special?

It looks like a normal Voodoo 3, and also not PCI (which I think are the more useful and valuable ones) . I guess I got REALLY lucky when I found a PCI v3 2000 in a £15 clearance mystery box!

It's not really my area as I usually spend about 20 times less on a graphics card!

Different pcb/layout so no, it's not your ''standard voodoo3''. I have one too. I don't think it is ''uber rare'' or even remotely close to 500 dollars worth.

However, I have a lot of 3dfx cards But only one of these and never seen another one here (otherwise I would have two by now as I like spares.... 🤣 )

EDIT: I see it is boxed, that makes it A LOT more rare. Still not even close to 500 imho but some collectors pay anything for rare items..... Just don't try to find any reason behind 3dfx prices on Ebay (or any retro hardware that is popular), there are a lot of high priced items on there and it has been discussed a lot.

OK thanks for the info! Yes I'm aware that ebay prices are not necessarily reflective of the value of the items... Until a desparate collection is happy to pay that much and suddenly it is worth that much 🙁 but yeah probably discussed to death on here.
