Hi

I recently got my hands on a 900mhz Athlon with a G400.

I've installed Win98SE and Forsaken, but when running Forsaken the machine locks up hard within the first few minutes.
But it happens in different places in the maps.

What could be causing this? overheating?
I'm using the latest Matrox drivers for Win98 and DX7

It could be heat. Make sure the CPU heatsink is making good contact and it has some thermal paste. You can also try setting up a fan to move air over the G400.
Other things you can try if that doesn't help would be to run memtest to make sure the ram in the system is good and test with a different PSU.

What driver version are you using for the G400?

Setting AGP x1 didn't help.
I'm using driver version 683

Unfortunately I don't have a second PSU that works.

Which chipset do you have on that motherboard? Did you install chipset drivers?

Installing the chipset drivers from CD seems to have worked 😀

The motherboard is Asus A7V
