Im trying to use an ISA ESS 1688F sound card with my SC55 plugged into the line-in of the sound card for music in games, I have Day of the Tentacle music working well but when I try to play Gabriel Knight 1 there is no music getting output to the speakers but on the SC55 the MIDI instruments are playing, if I plug headphones into the SC55 I can hear the music. I have noticed that when I quit GK1 and look at the ESSVOL setting for the volume "line" is set to zero, so I have tried to correct this by making line to "8" and made sure all the other sound volumes were 8 but as soon as I rerun GK1 there is no music and a quit and re-check of the line volume is back to zero. Im using the Dos/CD version on a 486 66MHz with 16MB ram and Dos 6.21 Ive tried this with an ESS 1868F and it works fine but unfortunately I had to use the 1688F because the 1868F had right channel sound distortion probably capacitors need replacing.
