Hi everyone,

I have this motherboard, an ASUS p5A-B. I really like this board because it tiny! However, there is a problem though... Look at the CPU socket placement and the AGP slot. Yep, very close. I'm currently using a Pentium MMX 233Hmz. The problem gets worse adding a heat-sink and fan on top of the CPU.

Do you guys have any recommendation for a heat-sink and fan that might fit this config?

That's a regular P55C? It's a pretty cool CPU and doesn't need anything bigger than the CPU itself. Just go for a square heatsink with ~3cm-4cm high vanes and a simple 50mm fan on top. Shouldn't foul either AGP or DIMM.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I have this Startech FAN370PRO 65x60x45mm Socket 7/370 fan w/ heatsink and it's too big. 🙁

Will check if they have a smaller one...

Thanks!

50x50mm might be what you are looking for.
Doesnt overhang the socket at all.

You can see it mounted here:

For boards like that with the heatsink really close to a card, I have used a bit of electrical tape to make sure that the heatsink doesn't short out the back of the card.

I'm using a heatsink very similar to this one in shape, it might well be pretty much identical, except mine is black. Using it on a P5A-B without issues, along with a Voodoo 3 that is long enough to interfere with a beefier CPU cooler. It's still easily good enough to cool a K6-2 550 and K6-III 400 that I've used it with, both of which use a few W more power than OP's P233 MMX.
