Some time back I picked up a Midiman WinMan MIDI interface card. I was asked for more details, so here's a thread showing it.

Unfortunately, I have to dash the hopes of those who wonder if it can be converted into a cheap MPU 401 clone. Midiman had a separate MPU 401 clone card. This one is a serial-to-MIDI converter where the conversion happens on the card itself.

The chip used is a 16C550 serial controller:

Most Pentium-class PCs will already have a serial controller that is this fast, so the card really is only useful for connecting MIDI equipment that lacks an integrated serial interface.
