Hi there everyone, this is my first post.
I am totally new here, and I'm totally new with BBS-type forums in general, so if I'm doing anything wrong, just point it out and i will try to correct my mistakes. also, i hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I've been making custom towers for various purposes since 2014 and the question i have here is about a problem i have with a DOS CD-ROM game called megarace.
I'm running it on a 133mhz socket7 with 32mb ram and the soundcard is an ISA CT3620, which i believe uses CQM for FM synthesis. it used to have a Vibra16 CT2800 installed which had a true OPL3 chip and worked well. but i "upgraded" to SB32 for the better MIDI.
megarace uses FM for the in-game music, but this music doesn't play on a CQM, and the strange thing is, the game gives no error reports and gladly accepts it when i select SoundBlaster16 from the games install menu. it also plays CD audio and speech fine.
i know some don't like the sounds CQM makes, but has anyone else experienced true compability issues between CQM based OPL3 emulation and DOS games?
I manage a pot-pourri of video matter...
