I have this OPTi-495SLC board and I'm trying to configure it for my Intel 386DX-33 CPU (PGA). However, looking at the Stason jumper settings, it kinda seems to give me conflicting instructions (or I'm just reading it wrong which could very well be the case).

https://stason.org/TULARC/pc/motherboards/U/U … 86WB-CACHE.html

Under the section "80386 AND CX80486DLC CPU CONFIGURATION", for 33Mhz it list the following:

Speed JP6 JP7 JP8 JP9 JP22

33MHz closed closed open pins 2 & 3 open

But then for "CPU SPEED CONFIGURATION" is says:

CPU Type JP6 JP7 JP8 JP9 JP22

33MHz open open closed pins 1 & 2 open

Which is basically the opposite...

I also found this alternative manual, but it doesn't seems to cover the 386DX-PGA installation 🙁

Thoughts welcome...

Looks like the first listing is for the 386 socket side(486DLCs are basicly 386s with some L1 cache) and the second proper 486 side, notice the 25 and 50i match and the 33 and 66i match.

Ah, OK. So you're saying that when the CPU type is 486 that the Mhz is selected under the "CPU SPEED CONFIGURATION" and that it doesn't apply to 386 config. That makes sense.

That means that in my case under the "80386 AND CX80486DLC CPU CONFIGURATION" I select the 33Mhz and under "CPU TYPE SELECT" I select the PGA option. The "CPU SPEED CONFIGURATION" selection is than irrelevant for my config.

One more question though, the board has 2 VLB slots. I assume these only work in 486 mode?

I have used a 386 and VLB in a similar board, at once.
