Is it common that a VLB card has 45ns DRAM chips on it? It's an Avance Logic GL2228A which is not a high end card by any means so it is interesting at least. The ones I've had so far had 80 or 70ns ones. I am not sure if it really matters when it comes to overall performance?

It doesn't matter much. Even better chipsets - like ET4000/W32p with 45ns... you could replace them with 60ns and performance wouldn't degrade.

I guess they got them cheap 😉
