Q: What is winrott?

A: It's a port to windows xp of the original rott that was originaly designed to run on dos.

Doesn't seem it was ever meant for anything earlier than XP. However, you can download the source code and build it for 98 yourself.

Huh, I thought I used to play it on my old laptop which ran 98 years ago. Maybe I'm misremembering. I haven't tried KernelEX yet either though.

Edit: WinROTT works fine with KernelEX. Derp.

WinRottGL complains about missing DLLs: GLUT32.dll and the hilariously named ASSIMP32.dll.
Once those are present, it gives a link error "linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:InterlockedFlushSList." I don't think there's any way to fix this without recompiling.

Oh well, software version is up and running, so can't complain.

For InterlockedFlushSList you'll have to use the KernelEx extensions

To clarify KernelEx is very old and has had other updates to it over the years. The kexstubs and core updates have to be installed after KernelEx to run newer software that KernelEX itself does not support.

Install kernelex
Drop to dos
Copy files from the other over the kernelex files.

If still doesn't work after that then post in the Kernelex thread over at MSFN.

Edit: I wrote what was previously here before DosFreak clarified his post above. I'll try the newer update linked & report back.
