I recently acquired a CTX 1451ES monitor that would look great with my 486. The thing was super nasty as it was stored in a janitor closet for the last 20 years, but did a power up test, and it worked. I took the thing apart after this and it had suffered from some rusting on the metal parts. Well I barely breathed on the fly back and the metal bracket that goes from the bottom to top just broke in half. The flyback says SAMPO FEA247 47F13-0330. Any ideas where to get a compatible flyback? I have changed probably 3 FB's in the past, but I could always find the model number in a parts search. Didn't know how interchangeable flyback transformers were for them to work properly.

Looking at Tedss.com they have a few Sampo branded ones, but nothing matching FEA247.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I used to repair TV's and monitors and can't remember what that bracket even does.
Maybe You could make one up?

I did find this though on a quick google search https://www.nucleuscomputer.com.au/Nucproduct … Products_15.htm

It just holds the two halves of the core from coming apart, but those halves are already glued in place and are very unlikely to come apart. You can probably steal this from another transformer, they're usually very similar in size, or you can epoxy things so that there's no way for the core pieces to move.

Thanks for the link Imperious. I saw a similar site like that one too, but I didn't know what to make of it since it just showed pin references? I guess it wouldn't hurt to send a quick email to confirm if they have a 247 in stock and if shipping to USA wouldn't be to cost prohibitive. It is a good first lead.

That was going to be my next question, what this bracket even does. Thanks for confirming the purpose Tiido. That sounds like a good option if I can get a bracket from a bad flyback. Unfortunately I have had about 3 CRT's I had to toss due to worn out tubes and even had bad flybacks replaced and never thought to save the parts or bracket. Save from becoming a worse hoarder of parts than I already am, I can't imagine, this hobby is causing me to need more storage space.
