Is there any difference between using the digital headphone jack as opposed to using the rear analog output for recording audio from the SC-55?

yes the difference is that the RCA outputs are line level, the headphone is already amplified.
For recording, always line level over the pre amped headphone jack.
the headphone jack isnt digital.

What difference will the end result be?
(I cannot compare myself, as I only have the necessary cords for the headphone jack.)
Headphone output has more noise and higher distortion figures compared to a line-out.
