Has anyone gotten their Diamond Monster Sound MX200 to function properly with 98SE? This is the Diamond card with the Analog Devices DSP (not the MX300 with Aureal Vortex 2).
98SE recognizes the card upon startup and loads the driver from the 98SE CD. It works fine at this point with Windows sounds and games.
However, Windows does not load the MPU-401 driver or Sound Blaster compatible-legacy drivers. I want to use the wavetable header with its 4MB daughtercard to play DOS games launched from 98SE.
So I downloaded the ms10706w.exe file from vogonsdrivers and installed the drivers. After that point, I do get the MPU-401 and SB legacy devices showing up in Device Manager, and there don't appear to be any resource conflicts, but now there is no sound for Windows events or games anymore.
When I reboot, it appears that a DOS program in some batch file is loading a file into the DSP. When Windows begins, I get a popup that says that the "Monster Sound DSP file is obsolete ..." No sounds in Windows or DOS.
I've tried two different MX200 cards in two different 98SE builds with the same results. What am I doing wrong?
