My motherboard is a mitac IB-4033 running 64kb chache and I'm upgrading to 256k will this help performance? I currently have 8 mb ram and an intel I486DX 33mhz!

Not really. Additional L2 cache on a 486 doesn't so much improve performance as it allows use to cache more RAM, and I don't think adding more RAM will help a DX33. From what I understand, the difference between 64K and 256K will be nowhere close to the difference between 0k and 64K.
