Hey guys,

I'm having trouble getting the installation to work. I found the drivers here:
http://laurent.caprani.free.fr/sc-6000/#IDAXAM3

when I run the install.exe it asks me to "please insert diskette labeled "Disk 1" and won't let me go any further. I formatted the disk and labeled it "Disk 1" but still a no go. Any suggestions?

I bet the installer is looking for a different specific label on the disk. Might be able to figure it out with a hex editor.

That page does mention extracting the LZH files in order to do the install with that driver set. My guess is that that install package will never work and stuff will have to be installed manually.

However, I was able to find the SC6000.zip which is the official Windows 3.1/95 driver package for that card.. I needed it anyway so yay me - (edit) supposed to have DOS drivers included as well.... (/edit)

Here is their really old download page but you have to know what the files are for in order to use them... that's where the second driver I posted came from:

thanks for the link to sc6000.zip (good to have)

*EDIT*

I figured it out. for anybody else trying to install this card

1. create directory c:\sound
2. Extract contents of Gal6n.lzh from Disk 1 to c:\sound
3. Edit config.sys and add "DEVICE=C:\SOUND\SOUND.SYS /I:7 /D:1 /MIRQ:0"
4. Edit autoexec.bat and add "SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 P330 T6"

only thing I'm missing to figure out is the MPU-401 which is not working right now with the Roland Sound Canvas

In the link you provided, it says how to set up the DOS drivers... just not super clear until the second half as to where you need to get the files from:

Sound.sys
The sound.sys driver is loaded from config.sys with a line like this:

DEVICE:C:\SOUND\SOUND.SYS /I:i /D:d /MIRQ:i
Where:

/I:i specifies the IRQ to be used, and i can be 7, 9, 10, 11 or 5. (see “Setting IRQ/DMA” below)

/D:d specifies the DMA channel, and d can be 0, 1 or 3. (see “Setting IRQ/DMA” below)

/MIRQ:i specifies the MPU-401 IRQ to be used, and can be 5, 7, 9, 10 or 0 – disable.

Setting IRQ/DMA
Use the gsetup.exe command. It is found in the gal6n.lzh archive (Disk 1).

The sc6000.zip is also supposed to have DOS drivers but it looks like you may need to run the setup through Windows.. or maybe not. Try running the setup from the sc6000.zip in DOS and see what happens.

thanks for that. I should of read more carefully. The only thing I can't get working is the MPU-401. I tried all the IRQ options but no games can detect it. 🙁

Ok.. the IRQ shouldn't really matter as for as the MPU-401 goes. MPU-401 generally only uses an address. However, if you set the MIRQ to 0 with sound.sys, then the MPU-401 will be disabled. So I think this is actually your problem... the MIRQ is stated to be set to 0 in your config.sys.

What are the jumpers set to for the MPU-401 address? 330 is the default and I am pretty sure some games will only work with it at 330.

Also, here is another page with some more info... archived origin link from the page you linked to:

yes originally I had it set at 0 (disabled) but then I realized I had to set it a IRQ and I tried 5,7,9,10 with no luck. as far as jumpers go, I unfortunately have a different revision pcb and have no way of knowing what jumpers to set. The jumper diagrams on that page are for a specific board and mine is 3.02

sooo.... not sure I'm gonna win this battle. but I will try some more things out tomorrow...

here’s the card, it’s a revision AV3.03

so far its working perfectly as a simple Sound Blaster solution but it would be great if I could get the MPU-401 working. I was hoping to use it instead of my AWE64 since some older Lucas Arts games don’t seem to play nice with the AWE64 (Fate of Atlantis)

I appreciate the help and atleast I have a working backup soundcard

I'll have to look at the pics when I get home. google drive is blocked where I am now.

Also, I thought I had posted some other info that might help last night but must have forgotten to hit the submit button. Probably still sitting up on my computer at home...

Anyway, here is the info I thought I posted.

The archived Zoltrix driver page. They have a 5 disk set for the AV301/AV302 (Audio Plus True 16) and the downloads work.
http://web.archive.org/web/20000124165442/htt … media-sound.HTM

They also say that the AV301/AV302 have the same jumper setup:
http://web.archive.org/web/20000831022438/htt … und/AV302JP.HTM

I went through my cards last night to see if I actually had an SC-6000 but I don't. I do have a couple SC-6600 and a couple other Gallant and Zoltix cards including the AV500 which is the one with onboard wavetable. Pretty sure I have the drivers for all the ISA based Gallant cards now and can get the Zoltrix branded ones from that page.

Ohhh.. used my phone to look at the pics. Your card isn't version 3.03. It is a different model than the SC-6000 / Audio Plus True 16.

It is the Audio Plus 3200 v.1

See the Zoltrix download site linked above for the drivers. The Jumper page for that card doesn't actually show anything useful. Might be that it is configured completely through the software.

awesome! thanks for all the help and info! How the hell do you know so much about these cards? 🤣

I rather like the card so I’m in the middle of re-capping all the capacitors and will dig into these new links and drivers as soon as I get it back into the pc 😀

I got MPU-401 WORKING! using driver disk1 for Audio Plus 3200 v.1from the Zoltrix driver page. Thanks so much!

the driver is almost identical to the SC-6000 except for the config.exe utility which is specifically for the Audio Plus 3200 v.1 and that was the difference. The config utility actually worked properly and set everything up. When I was using the SC-6000 config utility it would have errors and could only setup manually.

Everything works awesome now and thanks again.

what's funny though is it made no difference in Fate of Atlantis 🤣 but still glad to have another fully working sound card for my other DOS PC (which Fate of Atlantis does working properly on). that's a whole other battle!

Just wanted leave the hint that this card is also known as "TerraTec Maestro 16" or "REVEAL V1.10" (FCCID JZ5SC-60G)

For me the only working driver is the one provided at

http://terratec.ultron.info/Audio/Maestro/16/Driver/
