Possibly in other games too, but I haven't checked others which use VESA. Basically, the mouse only treats the screen as half its height - and won't move the cursor below the mid-way point. Which kind of renders the game somewhat hard to play.

I imagine I'm messing up in some obvious and stupid way, but any help would be gratefully appreciated 😀

I saw a post by Qbix(?) about a similar problem the other day. Seems like he was able to confirm the bug(?) and possibly also how to fix it. Maybe for the next release of DOSBox?

for vdmsound one can usually use mouse2kv or so. Look at the deep thought forum..

Dosbox experiences now and then a half width bug (or half height)
It's usally experimenting a bit till every game works again.
Usually the reporting of the problem is enough (when it comes to dosbox)..

Vdmsound on the other hand isn't active developed anymore.

Water flows down the stream
How to ask questions the smart way!

Well, I know the game works in DosBox (first thing I tried, seeing as I've already got a version set up and such), but unfortunately not at a decent speed (or at least, not at anything like the speed I can get - potentially - under VDMSound).

Mouse2kv doesn't seem to have any effect, unfortunately, which is a shame; and so far as I know there's no way to switch IHNMAIMS to a relative set of co-ords as suggested in the thread. in which its mentioned.

Ah well, I suppose this game probably gets moved into the pile to get running over X-mas on my P75, once that's set up (replacing a 486 66MHz - I like to keep an old machine handy for just this kind of occasion 😀 )

There's also Mouse2K2, a modification of Mouse2KV, that might help.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Well, Mouse2k2 does have an effect - not the right one but one nonetheless, inasfar as it defintely intercedes. Unfortunately, it also stops any mouse movement whatsoever, which doesn't help much 🤣 - thanks for the suggestion though 😀

I ran IHNMAIMS in DOSBox 0.63 without a problem. Well, it was a little slow. But not bad.

Yes, it’s my fault.

I remember to have run it under Windows XP without problems and without doing anything fancy. Have the CD somewhere.

Hmm... maybe that was one of those few changes between XP and 2K that MS made for the sake of retaining compatibility? Stranger things have happened...
