Those black lines shouldn't be called CRT-like.
I have tested many CRT monitors not all have that black lines effect.
This effect only happens on very large monitors that were not designed/configured properly.
Properly configured monitors don't have any black lines and display whole surface just like LCDs.

Large CRT monitor (21"++) and low resolution gives you scan-lines. This is most noticeable on arcade monitors where you have a 25" CRT with low resolution.

There are also other effects of CRT - curvature, blurring...

But I see now this is under dgVoodoo... I don't use it... so my comments are only general 😉
