properly one of the smallest Soundcard existing.
I needed a extra low profile Version for a Friend.
Why not make one ?
and here it is!
Only 3.8cm in height with Connector.
Its almost similar to the First Version but with added Fixes.
omg! a true Sega Master System's SN76489 into your computer! I would like to have one since the saa1099 emulation from CM/S is not perfect and we found bug using sbvgm.exe from OplX playing back .vgm into CM/S. I'll try to bring this into Oplx's attention and if he think it would be compatible with sbvgm I would be interested into getting a kit. Maybe I would get two kit and build one for our friend OplX as a gift.
Errata:
misordered 470uf Capacitor, Size to big, but fits.
PCB Errata - R3 Trimpot Holes bit too small
Bus Noise, fix add 10k Ohm Resistor.
R2 and C12 are switched, R2 should be in C12 and C12 in R2 Position.

Assembled Card with components in right Position 😉

Some whistling and noisy sounds when the PC is doing stuff. Very common on sound cards that get their power for amplification from the ISA bus. Not sure if matze uses a voltage regulator to generate some less noisy voltage. Lots of cards have this issue more or less.
EDIT: saw the voltage regulator! So the noise creeps in somewhere else.

There is no Voltage Regulator.
A 10k Resistor on VR will eliminate most of the noise.
You can listen to the Video.
I will try later to record some VGMs.
Any wishes ?
The Amp is powered over 2 Diodes from 12V.
In the SMD Version everything is powered from 7805 it was not enough to just Power the Soundchip.
Also found another Error the Filter was wrong, C12 and R3 are switched in Place.

One of my favorite soundtrack is on the SEGA Master System was Miracle Warrior's ending music. I was doing some testing of oplx's sbvgm.exe and it's one of the benchmark music. It can be quite problematic so I would be very interested to know how it sound on your creation. Since it's one of those YM2413/SN76489 theme sound and the problem is that it declare both chip in the vgm, I'll put both version, use the one that ever work.

Is there any place to get one of these already assembled? I have hand tremors thanks to MS and can't really do soldering.
I see you are in New York, it's quite near where I live, I would be glad to assemble one for you and the ship it your way. I'm already discussing with matz79.
OK... last time I do three message to do three reply ... damn, that project have me so enthusiast!

i can`t send to USA due to Corona. (USA is very SPECIAL ..)
Sending from Germany costs currently 36,99€ to USA, only Priority Mail avaible.
No small letters possible..
i have only few DHT kits left. if anyone is interested.
I think beside an euro-pc, such a soundcard could be interesting for my A2286 too.
Currently I am using a SC-1630 Formosa with primary ide with cf-card as hard-disk.

Wow, I didn't notice this until now, but indeed: DHL doesn't offer those shipment options for USA anymore. That's insane!

root42: I dont really care about the isa noise sound in that case. My impression is that it wont be a problem if using to play vgm with sbvgm.exe under msdos. Also maybe some sierra games, but I expect it to occur sparingly when you switch screen or stuff like that.
matze79: I was here to say that I wanted to use a socket so I could experiment with SN76489 and SN76489AN, but I'm glad to see you already took care of that. I see you ship the AN version from the picture but you list the non-AN version. I guess your target was Tandy so you went with the AN? For now the only thing I know is that the phase is inverted so it's probably meaningless difference in between those two chip version.
Also, matze79, thanks for the assembly information, I will take care about that.
matze79 a question that just crossed my mind: when did you experimented bus noise ?
Only on "high volume levels."
E.g. on hdd access.
