Hey!
My goal is to complete windows 98 machine similar to what I had in 1997-99. At least in power since I do not remember what specs it had.
It was something like: S3 elephnat 4mb, pentium 200, 64mb ram, msi motherboard.

I've saved from trash few computers which were used for office work at least until 2014. Here is what I've got:
-IBM 300pl desktop. Cartridge pentium 348mhz, integrated s3 trio3d and some crystal audio. No addons except for some weird rfid thing velcro in front. This unit works great. the integrated trio3d is just as fast as virge it seems. Sound emulates sound blaster I think. I can choose sound blaster in games. The case is only dirty but no cracks! Power button is finnicky.
-Toshiba 3100m. Celeron 500, intel 810 integrated audio and gpu. Surprisingly, the integrated stuff is very good apparently. 2d performance is just as s3 virge and there even is some not too good 3d acceleration. Enough to have nfs iii running. Turok also a bit. I had no idea there was integrated stuff back in the day. Intel 810 seems like a great quick retro job.
-Socket 7 mx166 pc. Could not get it to run. Only has 5din keyboard socket, some modem
-Socket 7 amd k6. Same thing

Also some cards, S3 virge elphant, S3 virge something , modem and addonics sounds card. See the cards on picture below. The top right card is my original 1997 sound card but I have no idea what it really is.
Some pictures. Please help identify the sound cards on the right

Some questions:
-Are these sound cards better than either 810 integrated audio or crystal integrated audio in ibm
-Are these s3 virge cards better than integrated stuff
-Do I get voodoo 1 ?
-Should I think about opening that pentium ii to replace thermal grease ?
-Build propositions please. I want to make toshiba and ibm into full builds.

If anyone want to trade, I don't have use for two socket 7 machines
