I HAD the exact same problem as this: No Music, but sound. o_O
... fx sounds and no music under dos games with win 98. In multimedia windows options I went in the midi panel and selected Microsoft gs wave table sw synth as midi output. Then I selected General midi in the game, It worked for three different computer, with sb pci 128 and cmi 8738. I hope it helps
