Hello
I cant get this to work. Ive got the latest version of VDMSound and the launcher. And am trying to load Wing Commander Privateer 1.
It doesnt even get past the DOS screen with this message coming up:

"Protected mode driver is not responding to EMS function calls. Make sure your EMS driver is not configured with the NOEMS option. If it is replace "NOEMS" with "RAM"."

I'm gessing this is a problem with the memory configorations but i dont have a clue how to make it work.
Any help??

Lukey

Bad news. This is not related to VDMSound at all.

If you put Privateer into the quick search at the top of the page, you'll find this has been discussed before.. The short version is this: Privateer needs VCPI memory, which makes it unable to run on Windows (any Windows). The only way it can be run in Windows is through a PC emulator.

You have very few options.

1) Virtual PC (from Connectix) works, but it doesn't perform as smoothly as a "real" PC. Also, it's not really meant for games and it's not cheap.

2) Use an old PC just for playing games like this.

3) My personal choice, Dual-boot (with a DOS-based OS).

One other thing, next time you post, please follow the Posting Guidelines at the top of each forum. Usually, that's crucial for trouble-shooting. This title is an exception (unless you're actually running it in true DOS).
