Running this on a Pentium 3@700MHz PC with a GeForce 2 GTS, so I suspect the problem might be the one mentioned here: https://gona.mactar.hu/DOS_TESTS/#G -- I think mine's a VisionTek GeForce.
I built the univbe driver when installing the game. Going through some old Through the Looking Glass posts, I can get the game to launch by adding the +badlinmodes flag, and +badpaldac fixes the colors, so I can see cutscenes/access menus/etc.
After starting a mission, I get a black screen and my monitor flashes... either a no signal or invalid refresh rate error -- it's only there briefly so I can't see what it is exactly. The game's still running at this point -- I have sound, and can bring up the options screen, which I *can* see.
I have not tried running vesa12 or 6bitDAC -- I'm under the impression that badlinmodes and badpaldac do the same things as those. I did try running VesaFix although that led to the graphics getting scrambled and pressed into the top third of the screen (which also happened with Crusader: No Remorse, which runs fine without any special TSRs. I only had vesafix on with it for testing purposes).
Anyone have any suggestions about anything else I could try in terms of fix programs/command line options/etc? Assuming it's the BIOS issue Gona's site mentions it sounds like I could do a BIOS swap although I'm under the impression there are risks with doing that. Alternatively, would there be a more-compatible PCI video card I could put in there and run alongside the GeForce?
