Recently I made a special Soundfont known as "Tyroland" that sounds really good! It's a direct layering of the GM patches of the Roland JV-1010 with the GM patches of the Yamaha Tyros 4.

When I made it, I didn't think it would be as good as it ended up ultimately being, because the two sources didn't feel nice to me. I didn't give up though. After making it, I tested it, and it drastically exceeded my expectations, producing a result that was absolutely wonderful, which floored me! It just felt amazing to listen to, and it honestly made me smile.

Also, it's under 900MB, allowing even FluidSynth 1.x to use it, and it's not a polyphony or volume monster, nor is it a CPU chugger on mobile. I've tested countless MIDIs with it and it shines 99% of the time. It's balanced, not overly loud or quiet, and clear.

i also use your soundfont to play midi files
(TyrolandGSfix9)

its the best soundfont i heard so far
and compared to roland sc va and a gravis ultrasound with ppl 1.61 it sounds much better

As of 2026 it has basically full VA-76 and SC-8850 support plus some extras you won't find on the real thing (CM-500 Mode B filling the second half of the MSB126 CM-64 compatibility section, and the XG SFX in MSB64 going to full MU2KEX ) so in addition to the better quality samples it's got plausible extensions to those devices. Also it's confirmed to run on a real Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium by a friend of mine. Really this bank's only flaws are it being non libre by virtue of it having Roland and Yamaha samples, and it being mid at any MIDI files involving PSG waves. Other than that it's an SF2 you should keep in your toolbox. And some patches were easier to derive than others.
