I´ve been testing which version of EDuke would work on Windows 98 SE right out of the box, which seems to be 20081002. The later versions had weird quirks: no music, no keyboard, etc. 20081002 works almost perfectly, except for the chopping sound. Has anyone tinkered around with this before? Is there a fix? If not is there any good port that would work on Win98?

The main reason I´m trying to do this is that ever since I installed SSD in my retro rig, DOS-based games won´t launch in Windows anymore and I don´t know why 🙁

Try eduke32 for Windows 95 which is based off of http://dukeworld.duke4.net/eduke32/synthesis/ … /20100101-1576/
eDuke32 for Win95

You can also try eduke32_snapshot_20091007

Later versions of eduke32 or BuildGDX may work with kernelex I haven't them with it yet.

Thanks but I keep facing problems. All your suggestions fixed the sound issue but now my keyboard goes away, only mouse works.
