Hi guys just joined this forum

Anyway, I have managed to get NFS1 to run on Windows XP PRO with sound (thanks to vdmsound). tried dosbox too but runs too slow.

But i have a problem, the game wont let me go anyfaster than 40 miles per hour it just stops the car from reving any more like when you hit the rev limiter in your car. I have tried using the mouse incase it was something too do with the keyboard and the same thing happens (as i cant use the keys to navigate the menus but can use then to drive the car).

Is this because the computer is too fast or something. I have spent countless hours to get it to run at all so it is pretty anoying too have it do this on me 😀.

Info on getting NFS running

If other people are having problems installing the game in windows install it in dos with a WIN98 Boot disk, it always works with no problems (i would run it in dos but i have no sound, and i can only do so many engine reving noises myself plus people may think i am crazy 🤣.)

Then Copy over all the extra files from the cd like the movies, sounds car info etc. then use a program called path editor (made for NFS 1) to change where the game looks for its files. now you can run the game without the cd. hence no more cd read errors.

You can get Path Editorfrom NFScheats in their downloads section.[/b]

Are you sure you didn't need to shift past 1st gear? heh

Yes, it’s my fault.
