I bought a generic PCI/ISA diagnostics card and it works fine in a PCI slot. But in an ISA slot I'm experiencing issues. I tried it in a Socket 7 430TX and a Slot 1 440EX and both would display some lights but no post codes and the computer would power on but fail to boot to POST or beep.

Is my diagnostics card defective or is it something else?

It's the wrong way in, should be facing away

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Yeah, it even says Rear 😁

Those combo ISA/PCI slots are the reason that, even today, video cards in those fancy windowed ATX tower cases face upside down.

Also most PCI/ISA diagnostics cards will not work proper in a PCI board when using the ISA part. Good news: your diag card is a good one ! Those with 4 chips are the best.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

That makes sense now that I think about it. The chips should face the same way they would as if it were an ISA card.
