I recently purchased a working Compaq LTE 5200 off of Ebay. Photos had been posted showing the laptop booting successfully and running Windows 98 without any issues. However, when I opened the packing box (completely unscathed, well packed and secured) I discovered two large cracks on the LCD outer shell. It seems as if something had happened to the laptop in between the 'Bay ad being placed and it being shipped - why else would the packaging remains unblemished? Anyway, I digress.

Photos attached below of what the screen is like. Hoping someone can guide me here - not on what to do with eBay and the buyer (cos I've reached and will escalate to a claim if necessary) - rather this:

Is it possible / is it worth it to repair this in its current state? I should mention the rest of the laptop is in pretty much flawless condition.

There is a heavy line running horizontally along the screen and most text looks garbled in the BIOS and Windows 98 desktop. Another strange thing is the inverted colours too.
