Hey guys, I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 8100 in hopes to use it with windows 98se, I bought a 128gb Samsung msata ssd and a 44 pin ide adapter and have installed win98se, I then found some windows ME drivers on the Dell support page, I have an issue with the ess maestro 3 sound card and SbPro emulation, I can't get the card to work with the driver supplied by dell, so I found another driver thats vxd and manually installed the card, it shows up as three entries in device manager,
ESS maestro-3 device manager
ESS maestro-3 DOS emulation
ESS maestro-3 pci audio drive, the resources are 220,5,1, when testing with duke nukem 3d there is an error about DMA when trying the soundcards fx, but the music wave works, any ideas on how to fix this, maybe I have the wrong driver?
Also in device manager I have a code 10 error on system board extension for PNP bios, there are 2 of these entries under system in device manager, not sure how to fix this either, any help with getting this lined out would be appreciated,

Intel pentium III 1000mhz

Do you have the Intel 815ep chipset INF driver installed ? Did you try this: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drive … driverid=r24320 it is for Win95/98

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Well I downloaded the driver and ran the setup, it installed the ESS maestro-3i Device manager, but another unknown hardware was also found, I pointed to the driver folder in c:\dell\drivers\r24330\ but no driver was found, I then forced the driver using have disc option and chose the ESS maestro 3i pci audiodrive and installed that. I reboot and then tested duke nukem 3d again and in the sound setup it's locking up the machine, I have to hold the power button down to power it off, I just tried to setup duke3d in MS-DOS mode and it's still not working, giving a DMA conflict error when testing the sound FX card, but when testing the music card I'm getting the music. And yes I have installed the latest chipset driver also.
