As it's been a slow day and as am getting serious withdrawal from not playing with old hardware, so got thinking (always dangerous) . As Windows 9x loves using the scratch disc I was thinking of putting in a dedicated drive for it to utilize for this. But as I have a stack of new old stock drives I thought it may be fun to see what effect settings up raid 0 would have. So it's kind of a three part question.

As I already have sata on my motherboard with working drivers, I was wondering if anyone had setup a raid in software in 98 SE and could point me in the right direction.

I also have a 64 bit PCI slot free, so was wondering if there was ever a high speed hardware raid solutions with 98 SE support that may be a better solution?

Same again for PCIE. I have a free slot so wondered was there ever such a card even made in PCIE with 98 SE?

Or if you can come up with any other ideas I would be interested to hear.

Thanks.

I'm using the onboard RAID on my Asus P4P800 SE (865 based) system. Works just fine in Win98.
Like you, I was just messing around. I've no idea if it has any performance benefits and I don't boot off it (that seemed like more trouble then it's worth)
But it does allow me to have more HDD's setup in the system just using the onboard hardware so that's a bonus.
