Do you want to play DOS games on that machine? Specifically older ones with FM synth music? If so, pick the Yamaha YMF744.

Otherwise, go for the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 SB0100.

No. not really, perhaps only a view dosgames with sb16 support, I don't need a good FM solution. I will perhaps install wdm-drivers in 98/me, so no FM at all.
Would be nice if there is a win3x sound driver, but it's not essential. The machine will be used 95% win9x/2k. The machine has a low-spec geode
