Hello all!

I have written up my experiences with a PNP type NE2000 compatible ISA network card, based on an RTL8009.

Hope this is of use to someone - there is little information available about the compatibility of this chip that I could find.

There is a newly-producible card which uses a similar realtek NE2000 compatible chip, the rtl8019.

New NE2000-compatible ISA network card

JLCPCB can assemble the whole thing from newly manufactured and in-stocked parts. Their SMT assembly service supports all the parts it uses, I think. It should work in an 8-bit slot.

I think the files to get JLC to assemble them are in Mr. Manawyrm's github.

Old precedes antique.

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

I wasn't aware that PCB manufacturers could, well, actually manufacture the PCBs completely...

Interestingly, having 5 of the boards manufactured including components (sans the RJ45 connection, which appears to be out of stock) was less than £50.

I will certainly consider this in future, although it certainly takes the fun out of trying to get old hardware to work properly!
