I'm looking for the following file:

HP Vectra VL 6/xxx Series 6, System diskette flashable BIOS File Size:0.4 MB
Version:HD.07.07
Release Date:Jun 29, 1999
wcb4z1en.exe

Last seen at:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software1/vc2417 … en/wcb4z1en.exe

Here is a list of other files related to this board for those looking for a reference:

https://www.driversforhp.com/download-hp/hp-v … 6-drivers-free/

I managed to find some of the files here:

Found it here:

ftpboi.external.hp.com/pub/softlib/software1/vc2417/vc2417en/wcb4z1en.exe

This FTP contains a very large mirror of HP's public FTP under /pub/softlib, /pub/softlib2, and /pub/softpaq.

I just downloaded it from the link in your OP, so not sure what the problem is?

I was unable to connect earlier with FileZilla but it works now. I don't know what went wrong.

Well, it was working briefly but then:

Status:	Resolving address of ftp.hp.com
Status: Connecting to 15.72.239.76:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Could not connect to server

They do seem to have an occasional tendency to drift in and out of availability...maybe a loading limit reached?

I have been wondering lately how long before some bean counter at HP switches off that ftp server. A lot of stuff on there isn't HPs anymore as a result of the HP/HPE split or is extremely "obsolete". I guess the warning sign will be HP posting drivers for new systems on their website or some CDN rather than the FTP server.

I think Chrome and Edge et al retiring the ability to download links via FTP will accelerate its retirement. If people can't download files from their browser anymore there isn't a reason for HP to maintain it. Unless they provide a http front-end.

Their FTP is enormous and too large for me to attempt to mirror myself. I try to pull as much as I can for any hardware that I already own and hope for the best.

On that note, I still run into problems locating old Intel drivers as a result of them removing all of their own driver links. It's not that they necessarily exist elsewhere but that it can be impossible to locate the correct file names which relate to what product.
