SPEEDSET (see speedset forum) may help if the game doesn't use DOS4GW or similar.

The best solution for this is to use the Battle.Net edition. That involves another purchase but it apparently works fine in NT. The Battle.Net edition is readily available and you should be able to find it for $10 or less.

Hum, I turned on the logging feature, and I got a whole crapful of errors.... I'm willing to bet that is the reason, the sound slows down so much.... Is there anywhere I can report the log to....

I'd prefer to use my old dos/win95 edition... It's not so much about the money, rather it's the feeling of nostalgia when playing my old copy.

uhh, the only difference is that the music sounds like crap since their is no CD music in Battle.net (I just insert my old WAR2 CD)......

and those "errors" won't help. 😉

Phbbt. CD-Music causes that annoying "loop-lag" where everything freezes for a moment while it goes back to restart the track, usually at some critical moment when you're really busy.

I preferred the in-game music. Of course, I was using a GUS card at the time.

Another candidate for GUSEmu?

Yes, it’s my fault.

Perhaps, but I think there are other titles that need GUS more.

Try General Midi. I found this played the fastest. almost normal speed. 😀

I have the exact opposite problem, midi music works fine but digital sound does not work at all in WC2 (The game autodetects the card fine and everything). I tried running other games with the same settings and the midi & digital sound work fine, WCII is the only game this occurs.... (On other OS's, this game runs fine)
I tried setting the driver to other types of blasters in vdmsound's .ini, the only one that semi-worked was the SB Pro, but it produces a looping sound.....

My actual sound card is an AVANCE Logic 100 (ISA), the OS is Windows NT. I'd appreciate any help/suggessions.

Thanks

Unless someone else with more (new) detailed data comes along, I can only think of two things:

1) Setup a dual boot between Win9x and WinNT
or
2) Get the BattleNet edition.

You already said that Digital audio works in other titles, so I doubt it's a VDMSound issue. You're running it with a rather old soundcard on an old NT OS, bad combination. If possible, you should consider setting up a Dual-Boot as that would give you a "fail-safe" backup.

Sorry, can't think of anything else.

"Rather" old? Dear $diety, man, it uses ISA! That's been obsolete for at least 5 years!

Yes, it’s my fault.
