I wanted to have install of DOS 6.22 on CF card on Cf-to-IDE adapter for benchmarking and motherboards fixing. I have installed DOS and copied there some benchmark software on PIII system, it worked without any problem. The problem began when I tried to use it on Super Socket 7 Motherboard I have fixed reccently ( PCPartner MVP3BS7-954 to be exact) . The CF card is 256MB PRETEC one. The drive ( or rather card) geometry is set as it has been set on P3 with no problems in using it.
The problem is that no matter what dos command I try to use ( ver, cd or dir) I get the 'Bad command or file name' error. Sometimes it lets me to enter any dir sometimes not. Couple of times it has been displaying random numers, letters and symbols all over the screen.
Have tried to run this CF card as slave as well as master but nothing changed.
Is the motherboard to blame or there is something You need to do to be able to switch dos install between PCs?

Does calculates the CHS is different between motherboards even it is same between of two motherboards? See what your PIII is set up for this in that bios settings? Remember pentium era motherboards is different from PIII motherboard from later eras.

BIOS HDD autodetection shows the same CHS for both motherboards, the only different is amount of Landz and Precomp. I have tried to boot from that CF card on other Pentium I motherboard and it worked flawlessly, I have tried to set Lands and Precomp both to '0' and the values shown in autodetection and it seems to be meaningless.

I got it, CPU jumpers were misconfigured and it was overclocked so that weird behaviour was an instability after overclock xD
