Working on getting parts together for a build and am wanting to use a DFI G586 VPS PRO motherboard I have IF it works and IF I can find jumper settings.

The old archived DFI is of no help because all downloads were on an ftp.

Here is a pic of the board:

The attachment cropped-1440.jpg is no longer available

Edit: I just didn't search with the correct terms.. Found a copy of the manual on manualslib:

The attachment g586vps_pro.zip is no longer available

Great work Cyclone3d !
Yes DFI archived stuff has been an issue lately 😀

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Believe it or not there are two manuals at evasive's website in mobokive, just found them. One is called "Screamer Pro" and is version B+, the other is same manual you found for B+.
The chipsets, layout and jumpers are the same for both form a quick look over ....
https://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/archive/dfi/ma … SPRO/index.html

There is one bios file in there named: vpsmmx.zip
contains this:
Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG. Copyright (C) 1984-96, Award Software, Inc. G586VPS Pro Bios Rev 1.9F
Award 01/11/97-VLSI-LYNX-2A5GBD49C-00.0C-00

Oh, that is interesting.

I was looking at the old archived DFI web page and this board was under a separate category for supporting Cyrix 6x86.

No mention of MMX anywhere. Guessing that BIOS adds official support for the Intel MMX CPUs.

Yeah you probably already saw these:
http://web.archive.org/web/20000817025350/htt … ULstOldProd.htm says: MMX 166/200 MHz = Yes
under Cyrix says untested/not supported but the 1997 and 1999 info pages says G586VPS PRO ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE CYRIX® PROCESSOR SYSTEM BOARD ...
Intel Pentium 75/90/100/120/133/150/166/200MHz
Future Pentium OverDrive processor
Cyrix P120+/P133+/P150+/P166+/P200+ Linear burst mode supported

Am sure you found a bunch more info than that but figured a second searcher might find something you missed....

added found three BIOS for the board, attached with brief TXT of what is what... no descriptions but the BIOS strings all match and one is same as in Mobokive..

Awesome finds.

I actually hadn't been looking for anything other than the manual since I just need to test the board to make sure it works.

I am kinda torn about which CPU to use.

ahh if me would try a generic 3.3v Pentium (p-100 or p-133 maybe) to test and then plan on a MMX-200 since it supports it... that is just me 😀

Well, I was not able to get anything except a click out of the PC speaker.

Went looking and found that there is a hole blown in one of the LGS integrated circuits near the power plug.... Blah.

I see what looks like a screw driver drop crack in one, yes. It is blown or physical damage ? Might be worth trying to replace it if physical.....

Is that a serial port driver, so it'd have +12, +5 and -12 going to it? Maybe a problem there is disrupting the power supplies?

It is definitely blown. Looks like lighting damage to me. I wonder if the board would power up all the way if I removed it.
