Hi,

I bough the following machine from an elderly gentleman. I would appreciate any information on how to use it. The only clues that I have discovered so far are:

1) a short article on Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatics_(graphics)

2) it also seems that these terminals were connected to a server running Sun OS: http://www.verycomputer.com/39_385edcf312ddf025_1.htm

I think it woudl be great to have it running again. Therefore, any further resources or ideas are welcome!

Inside, there is:

1) PSU
2) big Mainboard with SIMM slots
3) paralel graphic board with Barco/Chromatics chips and BNC connectors
4) VME backplane and VME cage
5) VME card that seems to be SUN 3/E (pn 501-8028-06206)
6) VME card that seems to be SUN ethernet/serial card (pn 501-8027-13106)
7) VME card named VME hardcopy

Maybe it was once connected to this - https://badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8999

I'd suggest you might also try adding GTE to your searches or checking out the early years of the GTE archive - https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.gte.com/* - tho if this is 90s vintage kit you might be out of luck. GTE seemed to be into equipment leasing so who knows where it might have been used - by them or others.

Thanks a lot @PC Hoarder Patrol!

Any bit of information helps. You are correct, as regards the monitor. Hopefully, it will work with some multisync CRT like my 21" EIZO.

But the more interesting issue is how it was booted and how the data were passed to the graphic board to be displayed. My theory is that some customized SUN OS was booted either from external SCSI or over the network. But there is no documentation whatsoever around ...
