In my (last) Windows NT 4.0 machine there´s an ATAPI DVD-ROM drive. Last week i noticed it didn´t show up under "My Computer" any longer.

When I open the drive-manager the DVD-drive is being listed there with no drive letter assigned. I can right-click it, assign a drive letter and at the same moment it shows up under My Computer (and I can use it.)
BUT after the next reboot it´s gone again.
What´s the cause for this amnesia? How can I make the assignment permanent again?

Just found the problem: In device manager "Cdrom" must be started as "System", I had set it to "automatic" after deactivating it temporarily.
