I'm using Windows XP Home and SCUMMVM 0.7.1, trying to run Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I keep getting the error message "Warning: loadVOCfromstream: Invalid header", followed by "startSFXsound failed to load sound!" Everything, including the music, works fine, except the talking. I have read the readme of SCUMMVM, which says the file monster.sou is required for speech. I do have the file in the game directory, but the talkie still doesn't work! Help!

I'm using a recent CVS daily build (from the SCUMMVM site) and it works fine last I tried (beat the whole game).

Did you set it up in the launcher GUI so that it was able to auto-detect which game it was? That might help.

Otherwise, my guess is that either your monster.sou or SCUMMVM is corrupted.

I noticed that the monster.sou file I have is 65 megs in size. Is it supposed to be that size, because I read somewhere that the file should be at least 130 megs or something like that.

YAHOO! I changed the file monster.sou to monster.sog, and now there's speech! Originally, the file was monster.sog, but I changed it because I read it wouldn't work as .sog. Guess I shouldn't mess around.

Sounds more likely to be an illegal download to me... I'm guessing the .sog file is the speech file recompressed in OGG format and would have to have been done manually and therefore 'known about'

Ah, I see. I haven't messed with using OGG/MP3/FLAC to compress my SCUMMVM game sounds, so I didn't even think of that.
