I am trying to get a serial port mouse to work in Windows 98. Everytime it boots I just get the No mouse detected errror.
I have tried to manually set the Com1 in Bios to EF88 to match 98 settings still no mouse. Is there something specific that needs to be loaded as cannot quite remember, I have also tried a USB>Ps/2 adapter and wont recognise that either?

I have a Ps/2 mouse on order, though would like to use my serial mouse.

System is -

PII Based board

if the serial port is plugged into motherboard maybe its plugged in wrong way the red wire should be pin 1 on motherboard or com addin card..

Solved - it was the connectors themselves - meaning the ports themselves on the bracket. I managed to find another serial com port, connected and picked up straight away.
