I have a weird issue as of late.
I really can’t make any sense of it, it’s like the date changed and now super pi won’t work.
I was working on my laptop,
Made a modded 570 3+ for it and popped it in,
Had issues with it, I think it was over heating. Eventually I popped the processor out and put it in a known good system and it never crashed but didn’t pass super pi.
Okay so I thought bad mod or bad cpu..
No worries, modded another, and another, and another.
None of them crashed in the known good system but none passed super pi either.
Next I got a different system. Same thing,
Next I got out my k6-3+ 550 which I know is good.
No go.
Nothing will pass super pi, but nothing is unstable in other benchmarks.
It’s like one day the clock changed and super pi decided to peace out.
It gets even weirder though.
Super pi will work fine on 128k, 256k, 512k, 1m, 2m 4m. Didn’t test others. But anyway I can run it on those all day long as long as I start it again and again with no error.
Haven’t tried 8m and 16m
Soon as I try to calculate 32m that’s where it spaces out.
I noticed it seems like running super pi 32m multiple times sometimes keeps allocating more and more memory each time you restart the test like a leak of some sort 🤣
What’s odd is that it didn’t used to do this, and I haven’t even changed anything between then and now on all these systems. I can’t make sense of it.
These last observations made me reaaaaalllly think there was a memory issue, but I tried it on two systems that previously passed a super pi 32m using the same memory. Each system has two totally different memory configs also.
And again, totally stable in everything else.
