I have some AMP sockets for 386 CPUs, and they are very easy to open. Just loosen the tension bar and use a flathead screwdriver to unclip the top part of the socket from the bottom, exposing the pins inside.
A socket3 I have on the other hand is driving me nuts. I've had this thing in my parts bin for 10 years and I've never been able to figure out how to open it (without breaking it). Anyone know the secret method?
I have a board with a LIF socket that I'd like to upgrade to ZIF. For whatever reason my socket3 appears to be missing all of the pins. Anyone know where to get suitable replacements?
