Hello there,

recently i got an old HP Vectra 386/20n, the one in the pizzabox case. It is overall in good shape, the psu is working correctly, but there are a many parts missing. Like HDD and Ram. There are also two empty sockets on the board, 1 PLCC Socket, labled XU2 and one labled XU3 (the two markings on the picture).

I was not able to obtain any Information about the XU2 PLCC Socket, nor if it is necassary for the PC to work properly. XU3 is also labled BIOS Rom and it is clear, that without one, the Vectra will not work. I also don't know why one of the previous owners pulled out the chip or chips.

It would be very kind if somebody could help me. What chip is meant to be in XU2 and where can i get one, if needed and where can i find a bios chip for this machine today?

Thanks in advance & best regards!

I found a video from Adrians Digital Basement on exactly this PC ... He is a great dude and active in the Retro scene.
Maybe he will have a look for you and even read the Bios...

Thanks a lot for your advice. I am aware of his video and also took this route, asking him for help.
