This is extremely annoying. I installed ATI's Catalyst 10.2 drivers (10-2_legacy_xp32-64_dd_ccc.exe) for my Radeon X800 on Windows XP and it has a bad habit of changing my desktop theme back to "XP style" after a reboot no matter how many times I change it back to classic.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like a registery issue where current desktop state is not being saved when exiting XP.
You might want to check the listed reg entries here: https://superuser.com/questions/160862/window … me-after-reboot
compare those lines to what your are.....
Or Maybe the CCC in 10.2 is overwriting the registry at exit or at startup ?
added Something else to try: Set as Classic, change anything like background color, then Save-As some name theme and apply. See if that loads each time....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I ended up renaming the Luna.theme file and Luna directory within "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes" to work around this issue.

It doesn't correct whatever is causing the problem, but it solves the issue for me. This problem is consistent, even after formatting, if anyone else wants to try experimenting with it.
